Hi Guys

Anne has asked me to forward on these details of bella a police horse Czech warmblood that needs a new home,She has some lameness issues which she becomes sound but being a police horse constantly pounding the pavement is just not suitable for her and we would like to find her a more natural home rather than the rush and hub bub of a police yard.

As you can see from the piccy's she is stunning to look at and rachel has been as truthfull as possible about her issues but anyone who knows anne and have listened to her tales you know its prob not all the horse and more the enviroment!

Please feel free to forward this on to anyone you know maybe interested.

yours wendy

Hi Wendy,

Here is the details of Police horse Bella looking for re-homing. If you could send it out to your list of contacts I would appreciate it. Hope the pictures come out. As stated this would be a long term loan, Essex Police always being the owner. Probably will be ok for companion or light work. Parelli home would probably suit. Let me know if you get anyone who is interested.

Thanks

Anne

Hi Anne,

Hope you're well

Attatched are some pics of Bella.

I have been told that Bella will be found a new home where we can come and check on her wellbeing and Bella will not be able to be sold on from that home. We have two months to find Bella a suitable new home otherwise she will be put to sleep. So, some details below...

Bella is 17.1hh chestnut mare, breed is Czech Warmblood. Passport shows breeding. She is 10 years old.

She is a nice person but can be mareish as in mood swings but not nasty therfore would not be suitable for novice and also not novice ride.

Bella is not good with large vehicles or clippers. We have clipped her only under full sedation by the vets and she has been know to strike out with front and back legs, although being a Warmblood she doesn't get a particularly thick winter coat.

Bella is also wary of the dentist, although we have a fabulous equine dentist who takes his time with the horses and therefore Bella will tolerate it but is a little nervous.

Bella is pigeon toed infront and her off fore is the leg she has had lameness problems in. Lameness was intermittant to start with and Bella became sound after a couple of days box rest. The last couple of times Bella has been referred to House and Jackson vets for nerve blocks and X-rays to reveal partial collapse of the coffin joint in off-fore, this was medicated back in June this year and Bella became sound. She then had a week to recover before bringing her back into work. As Bella had already started to lose her confidence with the work being asked of her it took a while to get her riding calmly in traffic again, especially vehicles coming towards her at pace and larger vehicles. She really lost her confidence with these. By the time we had regained it, Bella went lame. The vet assessed her and advised MRI scans to determine the exact cause of the lameness (approx £600) but did say to us that due to the fact her workload is always on hard surfaces (i.e. concrete roads) the concussion this will cause to her joints will be too much and result in Bella probably not being able to withstand the work we would need her to pursue.

One of the options the vet gave was for us to put Bella down, the other to find her a home as a light hack or non-ridden after four months re-coop on box/small paddock rest. More detailed info can be given if required.

Vaccinations up to date and teeth, back and saddle checked every 6 months.

I hope this helps, let me know if you know of any interest or anyone that may be able to help. Ultimately we want Bella to go to a long term home where she will get full attention and care and a stress free happy life.

Obviously this is where it stands at the moment but you know the Police so things may change! But currently I have been asked to enquire about finding her a Parelli home or similar with light, non-strenuous/stressful work.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help :-) Let me know if there is anything else you need to know.

Take care

Rachel
